"Cancer Pill" Making a Comeback



iressaIressa, a pill that was once thought to help cure lung cancer, could be making a comeback.  In 2003, the Food and Drug Administration allowed the use of Iressa in extreme cases of lung cancer treatment, but then later disallowed the pill in 2005 after federal findings showed that mortality rates were not positively impacted by its use.  Fast forward four years later, recent studies showed that it can hinder the progression of cancer better than chemotherapy treatments.  The company, AstraZeneca PLC, is largely responsible for possibly bringing back this cancer pill.  Read more about it here.
